CRACKERJACK

(a real quick read for we attention damaged)

by Peter Breschard

Charlie B wants to know where all the money went.

Bobbie the Book was more than pleased to enlighten him.

“You declare say ”X” amount as income. It has got to be enough to cover almost half of your easily discovered expenses. Make the number seem reasonable. Then the government takes its cut and the heat isn’t focused on you.”

Charlie B frowned. “That seems reasonable. I guess. I guess. So what is our problem today?”

“You’re paying too little in taxes. Trust me. This is going to bite us all on the ass lot sooner than most wise guys/gals bemuse.”

“We’re paying what the Feds say we should pay? On the income we should say we have? Still don’t see what the big real ruckus be?”

“We’ve been entirely legit decades. Since your old man, may he rest in eternal peace, decided he should move this business off the street and into the banks. The problem, to put it very simply, is, is, we’re making way too much money.”

“That’s a problem?” Charlie B topped their two coffees.

“We’re making way too much money and all your partners are greedy sons-of-bitches.”

“How does that play out?”

“Listen. Both you and I know we both have more money than we could ever spend in this and maybe even the next five lifetimes. We’ve got our kids and probably their kid’s kids seen-to for a century or two, all wrapped up in trusts that if any of them gets addicted to snorting cobalt cultured cut diamond dust, they still wouldn’t run out of cash. We’ve provided and we’ve done great jobs for our families. We should be proud of that.”  Bobby the Book made a dry coffee mug toast to his partner.

Charlie B dry clinked as well. “Again, I am not seeing a problem here.”

“It’s all the partners. Maybe they are not as rich as we, but I can tell you right now, they’re doing just fine. They’re all in the top tax bracket, easy.” MAYBE NOT A FULL COMMA THERE

(SMALL CAPS)

“They ain’t on no street corner begging for no pennies neither.”

Pay employees. Smart in the end

Greed

Like your Daddy and Grand Daddy would handle things.

All of them, maybe not, but a good number, say 33 and a third. Yes. Music to my ears.

Get the message.

Only way to save ourselves.

Need the people. Votes come and go.

BOARD MEETING

Xtra 1 no line silent bit

Xtra 2 no line

Xtra 3 3 words one speaks

Would Murray the K be far too ancient New York history?

Definitely. Don’t use it.

Sabe. Soiree!

DA BOIS

“So, I guess we’re going to call a meeting of the Board.”

“The whole Board, And explain it to them all. Like they were some punk kid sitting in the dark of an afternoon matinee when he should really be attending class. (Or maybe running a video in his head whilst he be attending the scholar academy dreaming he wuz anywhere else. Cheaper?)

“Could be a scene that. Could be a scene.”

HOT ROD TRICYCLE copyright patent pending

What is the crew of cb and bb doing after they finish work? Has the crew been identified at all or just back of heads with voices dubbed in later. Either has plusses and minuses and all the ding dong other things you could call such a situation. My thought here is we get five or six of the best we can find and pay out a little bit more from the get and maybe we get real lucky with the end product from this production.

Maybe.
