But, think about this, suppose you were to write a killer headline?
I ain't saying your information isn't solid, but suppose you added something to possibly grab a person's attention? I mean "Gilbert Stuart's "Jean Baptiste Breschard, the Circus Rider"" is kinda boring. You might look at Yahoo's front page and note how they create post titles to get viewers interested. You might try adding a video or a related picture or two to grab people interested about what you've got to say. Just my opinion, it might make your blog a little bit more interesting.

The National Gallery of Art shows no reference date for the painting. Any date is at best speculation on their part.
The writing on the bottom corners does not read either Ricketts or Breschard, the NGA confirms this.
The anecdote you reference was written many years after the portrait was created, there is nothing saying that this is the painting being referenced, and according to Wescott, that painting was ruined.
There is nothing you state which specifies Ricketts as being the sitter.

The painting is dated between 1795 and 1799, while Brenschard traces are not appearing in America before 1806.
The man is Ricketts, as the painter itself declares in the bottom left corner of the picture.
Furthermore, there are proof of Stuart and Ricketts in Philadelphia and of the problems in completing the picture: portrait was not completed as “...the artist, becoming angry at the equestrian, who gave him a good deal of trouble by his want of promptitude and the delays which occurred, is said to have dashed his paintbrush into the face of the portrait, declaring that he would have nothing more to do with him.” J. Thomas Scharf and T. Westcott, History of Philadelphia, 1609-1884 (Philadelphia: L.H.Everts and Co. 1884), Vol II, p 1044.

The illustration above is not a portrait of Jean Breschard, but the portrait of John Bill Ricketts by Gilbert Stuart, identified as such by Stuart himself. It is in the collection of the National Gallery in Washington.
